The EDDIE Neon Sign was reworked to properly implement animations! Whereas previously, relays were used for switching the primary side voltage of the transformers, I purchased VenTech transformers that can accept a 5V control signal to turn on and off! I then added a slider, which controls the time function of the animations. One button allows the viewer to cycle through 6 different custom animations.
The body of the sign was reworked as well, so that the glass is mounted on mirrored plexiglass, and silver trim cap is used to create the sides. All of the electrical internals are inside of the cabinet.
“EDDIE” Neon
This commission is a work in progress! The animation seen in the video is achieved by flashing the primary voltage of the individual transformers of each letter.
After research, these will be replaced with Tech22 controllers in the next round of work, and a cabinet will be built out for the letters.
Controlled using custom coded patterns by an Arduino!
