I created the Passionflower sculpture in 2018, for an Artica exhibit. I was (and am) inspired by plants that are native to the area. The passionflower, Passiflora incarnata, is particularly striking, and has always seemed like a prairie plant form a Dr. Seuss book to me. I wanted to pay tribute to this fabulous little vine with a glowing sculpture.

The body of the flower is made from aluminum, painted white. The inner stamen of the flower is sculpted out of wire, foam pool noodles, and addressable led strips. The flowers are made from white Tyvek.

The passionflower was raffled off for a fundraiser for the Missouri Prairie Foundation in Fall of 2025.
